I recently received a PDF file from my friend, I wanted to copy certain part, text of the PDF file and paste it as a note, however I could not copy the text from the PDF file, making me wonder what was wrong with it.
It turned out that PDF file that I was trying to copy from had some fonts that were not installed on my operating system. After searching for a fix, I found an online tool called “Free PDF Unlock Online Utility (Beta)”.
This is what they say on their page: ‘Some PDF documents prevent the user from copying and pasting or printing it’s contents. This sometimes presents a problem since the author of the PDF might have used a font that is not available in the system trying to read it.’
To unlock a PDF file, enter it’s location in the “PDF file to unlock” field, by either typing it in the field or clicking on the “browse” button, then navigating to it’s location. The unlocked version of the PDF will be displayed in a new browser window, opened in the default PDF application for your system (usually Adobe Acrobat Reader). That’s it! Now you can easily copy any content from that particular PDF file and enjoy!
And if you want some more control over the PDF files, you can see:
