Unfollow People Who Aren’t Following You On Twitter

twitter-button-logoAre you following more people than you have followers? Maybe you follow someone, just because you expect that they will reciprocate, follow you back? If you sometimes use this Twitter technique, there are always people who do not follow you back and over time, that list gets bigger and bigger and you end up having more people that you follow than number of your Twitter followers.

After all that, it’s hard to search for those who are not following you back, sometimes it’s too much of them.

But now you can find out exactly who doesn’t follow you, and automatically unfollow all of them! In one single bulk action, one click – nice and easy!

You can do it with web service called TwitIn. – (SEE THE UPDATE BELOW)

Just click on the ‘Flush’ button and it will unfollow those who do not follow you back. You can also use it to follow back those who already follow you (‘reciprocate’ button), or to grow your network and follow more new people (‘grow’ button).

unfollow-flush-twitter-followersBut wait! That’s not all. There is one more excellent thing about TwitIn that can really help you.

It also tells you the list of people on Twitter that are most likely to follow you back if you start following them. I think those recommendations are based on stats of those Twitterers and because they were reciprocating follows before, so now they are known for that and recommended by TwitIn. That’s another great technique you can use to gain extra followers on Twitter. (see the image below)

Visit TwitIn to improve your Twitter account and gain some followers.

UPDATE:

TwitIn service became ‘premium’ recently, and they do not offer their services for free anymore. I’m really sorry about that, since they provided great value.

But here are couple of alternatives that will help you unfollow those not following you on Twitter. They might not be as great as TwitIn was but hey, they still do the work they’re supposed to do.

My first recommendation would be Twitter Karma.

You need to be cautious when using this, if your API limit is close to being maxed as it may “appear” as though it’s not working. Just try again in an hour if it’s not working as expected.

And here’s another one:

UPDATE 2: I’m really sorry, but it seems as Huitter (the site below) is also out of functionality… So your only option is to use Twitter Karma as suggested above.

Huitter.

After entering username and password they will automatically remove all the people who are not following you.

But be warned. When it starts its bulk unfollow. It doesn’t ask for confirmation, doesn’t let you choose people you want to follow regardless of whether they follow you, like CNN Breaking News, etc. So that means this will unfollow ALL of those who are not following you. With no exceptions at all.

One way to work around this annoying circumstance is to do their bulk unfollow and then again manually follow the accounts that you really need to follow, like CNN Breaking News, etc.

I guess this twitter tool should be called “the Unfollow machete”
